Network Penetration Testing Services

Our network penetration testing shows what an attacker can actually do against your infrastructure, from the internet and from inside your network. Certified testers combine automated discovery with manual exploitation to find the weaknesses scanners miss, prove which ones matter, and give your team a clear, prioritized fix list. It is one part of our penetration testing services.

What we test

External network penetration testing

We test everything you expose to the internet the way an outside attacker would.

  • Public IP ranges, domains and the services listening on them
  • Firewalls, VPN gateways and remote access portals
  • Email, web and file transfer services exposed to the internet
  • Weak or default credentials, password spraying exposure and missing MFA on remote access
  • Unpatched and end-of-life services with known exploits

We start from the position of a compromised laptop or a malicious insider and see how far we can get.

  • Active Directory: Kerberoasting, credential relay, delegation abuse and paths to Domain Admin
  • Lateral movement and privilege escalation between workstations and servers
  • Network segmentation between user, server, payment and OT networks
  • Legacy protocols, shared credentials and sensitive data on file shares
  • Whether your endpoint and SOC tooling detects what we do

We assess corporate and guest Wi-Fi on site or with a remote testing device.

  • WPA2 and WPA3 configuration and enterprise authentication
  • Guest network isolation from corporate systems
  • Rogue and look-alike access points
  • Captive portal and pre-shared key weaknesses

We verify that segmented networks really are separated, as required for PCI DSS cardholder data environments and recommended for OT and sensitive systems. Every allowed path is documented so you can show your auditor exactly what was tested.

How Our Network Penetration Testing Works

Scoping & Rules of Engagement

We agree on IP ranges, internal access method, testing windows, out-of-scope systems and emergency contacts, and document them in a Statement of Work and authorization letter before any testing starts.

Penetration testing scoping and rules of engagement

Discovery & Enumeration

We map live hosts, open ports, services and versions, and for internal tests enumerate Active Directory users, groups, trusts and permissions to find the shortest attack paths.

Exploitation & Lateral Movement

We safely exploit the weaknesses we find, chain them together and attempt privilege escalation and lateral movement, stopping short of anything that could disrupt production.

Reporting

You receive an executive summary for leadership and a technical report with every finding, its severity, proof of exploitation and step-by-step remediation guidance, including attack path diagrams for internal tests.

Remediation Support & Retesting

We walk your team through the findings, answer questions while you fix them, and retest critical and high issues so you have documented evidence of closure for auditors.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between an external and an internal network penetration test?

An external test targets the systems you expose to the internet, the way an outside attacker would. An internal test assumes an attacker already has a foothold, such as a phished laptop, and measures how far they can move and what they can reach. Most organizations need both.

Usually not. We can test remotely through a small testing device or a virtual machine you deploy on your network. On-site testing is available when it is required or preferred, for example for wireless testing.

We design tests to avoid disruption. Testing windows, fragile systems and anything that is off limits are agreed in the rules of engagement, and we contact you immediately if we find something critical.

Yes. PCI DSS requirement 11.4 calls for external and internal penetration testing at least once every 12 months and after significant changes, plus segmentation testing. Our methodology and reports are built to meet those requirements.

A single external network test for a small business typically costs $4,000 to $8,000. External and internal network testing for a mid-sized organization typically costs $10,000 to $30,000. We provide a fixed quote after a free scoping call.

Most network tests take one to three weeks of testing depending on the number of IP addresses and sites, with the report delivered shortly after testing ends.
