Penetration Testing as a Service (PTaaS) & Continuous Penetration Testing

An annual penetration test shows your security on one day of the year. Your environment changes every week: new releases, new cloud services, new vulnerabilities announced overnight. Penetration Testing as a Service (PTaaS) replaces the once-a-year snapshot with continuous testing by our penetration testers, scheduled hands-on testing through the year, and findings delivered as soon as they are confirmed. Choose external network, internal network, web application and API testing, or any combination. It is part of our penetration testing services.

What PTaaS includes

Continuous attack surface monitoring

We continuously watch your internet-facing footprint for change: new hosts, open ports, exposed services, expiring certificates and newly announced vulnerabilities that affect what you run. Significant changes are reviewed by a tester, not just logged by a scanner.

Our testers manually test your environment on a recurring schedule, typically monthly or quarterly depending on how fast it changes, instead of once a year. Each cycle builds on the last, so testers go deeper over time.

  • New application releases and major features
  • New systems, cloud services, offices or acquisitions
  • Critical newly announced vulnerabilities in technology you use
  • Suspicious activity or an incident that needs validating

Validated findings are delivered as soon as they are confirmed, with evidence, severity and fix guidance, and can be fed into your ticketing system such as Jira or ServiceNow. Retesting of remediated findings is included, so you get proof a fix worked without waiting for next year.

Trend reporting shows how your exposure changes over time, and formal reports with retest letters are provided for PCI DSS, SOC 2, the GLBA Safeguards Rule, cyber insurers and customer security reviews.

How Our Penetration Testing as a Service (PTaaS) Works

Scoping & Onboarding

We agree on scope (external, internal, web applications and APIs), testing cadence, rules of engagement and how findings reach your team, documented in a Statement of Work and authorization letter.

Penetration testing scoping and rules of engagement

Baseline Penetration Test

Every engagement starts with a full baseline test of the agreed scope, so we know where you stand and your team has a clear first remediation list.

Continuous Monitoring & Recurring Testing

Our testers monitor for changes continuously and run hands-on testing on the agreed schedule, plus testing triggered by releases, new systems and critical vulnerabilities.

Real-Time Findings & Retesting

Findings are delivered as soon as they are validated, and fixed issues are retested on request, so nothing waits for a year-end report.

Reporting & Program Review

Periodic trend reports and a review with your team show progress, remaining risk and where to focus next, with formal reports for auditors and customers.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is penetration testing as a service (PTaaS)?

PTaaS is penetration testing delivered as an ongoing subscription instead of a one-time project. It combines continuous monitoring of your attack surface, recurring hands-on testing by penetration testers, testing triggered by changes, real-time delivery of findings and included retests.

Vulnerability scanning is automated and reports possible weaknesses, often with many false positives. PTaaS uses human testers who confirm, exploit and chain weaknesses to show real risk, and who find the access control and business logic flaws that scanners cannot.

An annual test is a point-in-time snapshot. PTaaS keeps testing as your environment changes, delivers findings as they are found and includes retests, so a new exposure does not sit undiscovered for up to a year.

Most programs combine continuous monitoring of internet-facing systems with hands-on testing monthly or quarterly, plus testing whenever you release major changes. We set the cadence with you based on how quickly your environment changes.

Yes. PTaaS includes the annual external and internal testing and retesting that PCI DSS requirement 11.4 calls for, and provides the penetration test evidence SOC 2 auditors and the GLBA Safeguards Rule expect, with formal reports for each.

Yes. PTaaS is available to MSPs, resellers and IT service providers through our partner program and TD SYNNEX, and works well as a recurring service for their clients.

Pricing depends on the scope you choose (external, internal, web applications and APIs), the size of your environment and the testing cadence. We provide a fixed monthly or annual quote after a free scoping call.
